        Testmake and Testlern for the 3a/c V1.11 (C) Gary Ewer 1998
        -----------------------------------------------------------

Thank you for trying my Test programs. I hope you find that they make learning
(and other things) much easier. Please feel free to contact me with any comments
or suggestions that you may have regarding the programs.

Installation
------------

The easy way:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Firstly unzip the tests.zip file (You should have done this by now). The zip file
should contain this readme file and two directories. One directory is called APP
and the other is called TST. All you have to do is copy these two directories into
the root directory of your Psion. Then you need to go to your Psion's system screen
and press Psion-I (Install). From here you can install Testlern. Then you need
to repeat the Psion-I process for Testmake. When installed you should see underneath
the two icons 4 files that are examples which I have created over the last few years
(I have been using the program for quite a while).
The other way:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Alternatively you can do the above manually by copying the following files into
their respective places (you will have to create a directory called TST):

                       Destination
File Name directory on Psion Description
---------           ------------------               -----------
Testmake.opa             \app
Testlern.opa             \app
Fredic.odb*              \tst                 2000+ word French dictionary
Gerdic.odb*              \tst                 2000+ word German dictionary
Internet.odb* \tst Database of a few Psion and F1 racing Web sites
Physics.odb* \tst Useful Physics equations (GCSE Level)
    * These files are optional example files.

When these files have been copied across you just need to install Testmake
and Testlern onto your system screen as explained above. You should see any
example tests you installed appear under both icons.

Instructions
------------

These programs both contain full online instructions on how to use them, just
open one and press the Help key.

Some Notes on Some of the Functions
-----------------------------------

Open CSV
~~~~~~~~
This function can open Comma Separated Value documents created by Excel. There are two things
to note about this however. Firstly there can only be 100 characters between commas, any more
will not appear in the test file produced. Secondly, only 4 fields are saved. Therefore
anything that appears after the 4th comma on a line will be lost.
Sorry about these limitations, however I had to do this to conform with the rest of the program!
"Learn it!" and "Edit it!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
These functions will only work if the Testmake.opa and Testlern.opa files are in the app
directory, as explained above. Therefore I would avoid renaming the two files.

Registering
-----------

These programs are shareware. Therefore you may use them for 30 days for free, and then you
must register. Once registered you will be able to use the few features that are disabled
in testmake. Also the nag screens that appears on start up will be removed.

Registration could not be easier. All you have to do is enter a simple code and
enter your name. To get the code needed for registration you just have to send
your name and address plus 10 UK pounds registration fee (15 in local currencies)
to me at the following address:

Gary Ewer
7 Sutton Park,
Sutton,
Ely,
Cambs.
CB6 2RP.
ENGLAND.

I will then send you the code and instructions on how to enter it. Its as simple
as that!

By registering this pair of programs you will ensure that Testmake and Testlern
receive continued development in the future.

Contacting Me
-------------

with testmake or testlern I can be contacted at the above address or I can be
E-mailed on either <gary.ewer@earthling.net>

History
-------

Version 1.0
~~~~~~~~~~~
This is the original program which I had been creating for many years.
Version 1.1
~~~~~~~~~~~
The only difference between this version and version 1.0 is that I added a few more features,
such as the CSV compatibility and the "Learn it!" and "Edit it!" functions. I also have added
a basic wrap feature to Testlern, so the questions and/or answers do not go off the screen.

Version 1.11
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hardly any different from version 1.1, however I have fixed a bug in the display procedure.
